The ASEAN Women’s Circle of Jakarta (AWC) made substantial donations to help the plight of needy children.

This June 2014, AWC President, Mrs. Sabai Win and AWC Chief Patron, Mrs. Sranya Natalegawa handed over donations to four foundations whose work focuses on improving children’s welfare and education.

Two of the foundations, Sahabat Anak and Kampus Diakonia Modern (KDM) work in tandem for the betterment of Jakarta’s street children. AWC also donated to SOS Children’s Village in Lembang, Bandung, West Java, a foundation that looks after the education, health and well-being of orphaned children, as well as Yayasan Daya Dutika, a Jakarta-based foundation working on children’s education.

The donations came from the proceeds of the “ASEAN Traditional Culinary Festival” that AWC organized earlier on in the month. The Festival showcased traditional dishes from the ten ASEAN Member States as well as from ASEAN Dialogue Partner countries. It drew a large crowd of more than 500 visitors comprising spouses of the Diplomatic Corps in Jakarta, AWC friends, and other guests.

AWC continues its outreach and charity work through its upcoming activities.
