The ASEAN Women's Circle of Jakarta (AWC) ushered in a new season with its Spring Luncheon held on Friday, 16 March 2018.
Spring is a time of change and renewal, both of which were embraced by the members of AWC in the form of our new Advisor Datin Chan Chin Ming, spouse of the ASEAN Secretary-General, as well as a few new faces in the Executive Committee for 2018-2019. All AWC members also pledged their continued support for AWC's fundraising activities by renewing their memberships during the Spring Luncheon. The ASEAN Secretariat represented by Dr. AKP Mochtan, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for Community and Corporate Affairs, assured AWC of ASEAN Secretariat's full support during his remarks at the event.
In her speech, AWC President Mrs. Sari Percaya highlighted the achievements of AWC in 2017, as well as the upcoming activities and events for 2018. A more detailed report can be found here.

As part of the Spring Luncheon program, guests were treated two delightful performances by the children from Yayasan Pendidikan Al-Hikmah: a pantomime detailing the antics of schoolchildren, followed by the Sajojo, a dance from Papua. What made the performances especially amazing is the fact that the children from Yayasan Pendidikan Al-Hikmah are hearing-impaired. Despite their limitations, they were able to dance along with the music simply by feeling the vibrations on the stage floor.

Guests were also wowed by a magic show performed by students from Sekolah Motivator Ekselensia, and because a magician never reveals his tricks, the audience was left scratching their heads and wondering, 'How did he do it?'
A sumptuous lunch was served while a variety of generously donated lucky draw prizes were given out to over 20 lucky winners, bringing the event to a successful end.
